Our Junior/Primary School is located in the residential area of Kodra e Diellit 2. The two-story building, which houses Primary Years 1 to 6, features open, airy, and bright learning spaces designed to inspire and engage students. The school is well-equipped with a library, gym, art room, and a computer lab, all conveniently attached to classrooms and referred to as “resource centres.” For our youngest children in Key Stage 1, there is also a well-equipped playground that encourages outdoor learning and play.

The school day begins at 09:30 and finishes at 15:45. Over time, we have continuously developed our curriculum to prepare students for the demands of a globalized and increasingly unpredictable world. As a result, all primary year groups follow the English National Curriculum. Our qualified teachers carefully develop lessons, activities, and resources tailored to the individual needs and abilities of each student, based on the objectives set by the British government in the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Life skills such as critical thinking, analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and teamwork are not taught as separate subjects but are fully integrated into all aspects of the school day.

We maintain regular reporting and close communication with parents, ensuring open channels to discuss children’s progress. Feedback is actively collected through various tools, including an annual parent survey. Our well-resourced library, along with an online library accessible free of charge to both children and parents, invites students to explore worlds of fiction and non-fiction. Pupils are encouraged to pursue their interests further by participating in a variety of after-school clubs offered by both teaching and non-teaching staff.

Key Stage One – Years 1 and 2

Key Stage 1 (KS1) sets the foundation for the learning and development of children aged 5 to 7 years old. It is the most comprehensive and well-established early years programme in Albania, encompassing Year 1 and Year 2 (Klasa e 1-rë).

At KS1, we focus on educating the whole child, supporting academic growth alongside personality and character development. Creating a safe and nurturing environment is essential; when children feel happy and attend school with a positive attitude, their learning flourishes.

In line with UK primary schools, children in KS1 participate in formal assessments such as the Phonics Screening at the end of Year 1 and the Standardised Assessment Tests (SATs) at the end of Year 2. These assessments primarily evaluate progress in core subjects, including mathematics, reading, spelling, punctuation, and grammar in English. Albanian is taught daily as a core subject for one hour throughout the school day. Other subjects within the National Curriculum include Computing, History, Geography, Art, Music, and Physical Education. These subjects are assessed through a combination of teacher observations, internal assessments, and the quality of work recorded in students’ subject or thematic notebooks.

All KS1 subjects are taught in English using a thematic and creative approach by our qualified British and international teaching staff.

Key Stage Two – Years 3 to 6

Key Stage 2 (KS2) sets the standards for the learning and development of children aged 7 to 11 years old. The National Curriculum outlines the learning goals and expectations for Years 3 to 6. Teaching strategies are diverse and dynamic, with students working individually, cooperatively in small or large groups, and occasionally as a whole class.

Teachers do not rely solely on one textbook; instead, they employ a variety of resources and tools to enhance each student’s learning experience as an individual. Home learning primarily focuses on independent or guided reading with parents, alongside weekly or project-based assignments to deepen understanding.

We actively promote the moral, social, and cultural development of our pupils through a wide range of activities during the school day and after school. These additional opportunities allow children to express themselves and enjoy school life beyond academics, including sports, art, and music. Each term, the whole school participates in thematic weeks—such as Science Week, Art and Culture Week—and special events like sports tournaments and World Book Day. These occasions encourage cross-curricular engagement rather than a narrow focus on individual subjects.

The journey from Year 3 to Year 6 helps children unlock their potential as future scientists, historians, authors, mathematicians, or artists.
